Jean Keaton's drawings are copyrighted, please do not reproduce.
Many that visit
our website, first saw Jean's drawings in one of the emails that have been
circulating. There is actually more than one email that contains
this artwork floating around out there. I think that someone scanned
actual prints that they had purchased, (they are very clear); others may
have been taken off the Internet. But most, if any, do not have
any reference to Jean or our website.
Actually, these emails have helped us, and have hurt us. We believe the passing of this email has been done by those who want to share something that they have found meaningful with their friends, not to hurt the artist. I think that most do not even know that these prints are copyrighted. We are aware that many have copied and/or printed the drawings. And some have used them to copy and sell for personal profit - without permission. But we have also been contacted by several that have enlarged and sharpened the prints until they could read the artists name and searched us out on the web. If you are one of those that searched for us, we are grateful that someone enjoyed these drawings enough to share them with you. Thank you so much for being one of those that felt it important to find us.
Although it is nice for us to sell the prints, I have decided that much good has been forwarded with these drawings. Jean has been surprised and touched that her work has had such an impact on so many that feel they must share them.
Many have been comforted with this email, as they received it with "perfect timing" - a reminder that God does have a hand in all things. The stories I receive, from those grateful recipients, have been very touching. Sometimes I hear from those that found some peace or hope in these drawings in the midst of the most heartbreaking experiences. How wonderful it is for Jean to have a small part in God's healing powers.
I have to admit that, at first, I was quite angry as I watched Jean's rights abused. But how can I be angry when I hear from those that received an email and found peace?
Even with all the good, the truth is that it isn't fair to Jean. She has lost much of the control of her copyrights. It makes it a little difficult for her to make a living when the prints are given out freely. We know we cannot totally protect the copyrights, so I would appreciate it very much if you pass on the email; please include our web address. If you are willing and have the time, it may even help to "reply to all" and send them our link. At this point I have watched it go from one end of the United States to the other, Canada, Europe, and even into Japan, Malaysia, and Australia. It can only help for you to pass it on with our website included.
Thank you, Mauree
